Do you know me
No, you don't know me.
If I say I am Christian do you know me now? No.
If I say I am blond, do you know me now? No.
If I say I'm an adulterer, do you know me now? No.
What I am is a label of what either you or I want me to be. It's not me though. It may be something I have said, done or experienced but it has nothing to do with who I am!
As I say Christian, you automatically bring up in your mind any pertinent information about your experiences and learning associated with Christians. Guaranteed, everyone has a different perception of what that means.
As I say adulterer, at least movies we’ve seen come to mind. If you’ve experienced it though, as the doer or the betrayed, you definitely have some very strong opionions about why it was okay or needed; or you feel all kinds of hurt and angry.
There are some common perceptions, or filters, but common and true are not necessarily the same. We never want to make the mistake of assuming. But absolutely remember that words attempt to make sense of the world of opposites in which we live.
As we experience, we decide what those experiences mean. We see what we have decided something is, regardless of what it is as true, but in reality its just our decision about the event that becomes our truth.
