Fundamentally I’m opposed

Fundamentally I am opposed to be mean and rude to people, even those who are being rude and mean to me. Now, that statement does not mean I cannot be nor have not been my share of that, and for sure we have all experienced our double share of that from others. But see, this is where I think peoples perspective and understanding of what is really going on gets lost.

Why would double negative back be reason to not be mean? Why would absorbing rude be okay? What am I even talking about?! I’m talking about understanding, I don’t mean feel good kindness and kum-ba-yah. I’m talking about the kind of knowledge that is wrapped up in experience and time to give you a more complete view of circumstances.

I’m talking about the kind of view or understanding that comes at the end of the court trial when both sides have been heard, hashed out and balanced with other truths and realities. I’m talking about the sum up of the Super Bowl in our minds after all the after shows. The meaning of the characters in a book or story after a great English teacher opens your eyes during your dreaded semester of required English class.

This is what understanding means to me. It’s the deeper, more than knowledge, more than comprehension that exists after time and synergy. It’s what allows actions that are done in wisdom. It’s even a better meaning of long suffering. It’s not victim, rolling over, soft and tender. Its forged power at your disposal to use in situations that come up and that definitely need understanding.

So why am I opposed at the core, of choosing the easy mirror of mean in return? Let’s start with the fact that I truly believe most humans are good, useful, worth it and of value. I say most because I know there are those ones in the negative way that have completely given over to darkness and evil to put it in colloquial terms.

I don’t mean the x who is leaving havoc in their wake nor the abused who is the abuser, nor the ridiculous who laughs at morality. Even these terribly acting people and every other gradient of being has value, serves to teach (even with their anti-example), is not unchangeable and didn’t start there.

I’m not saying I am a do gooder that is trying to fix the terrible in the world one bleeding heart action at a time either. I’m saying this is the basis of how I understand human beings and the perspective with which I am able to interpret them, thus put their behaviors in perspective and so not be even remotely negatively affected by their rude behavior toward me and still be able to, in turn treat them better than their actions dictate. It’s an attitude, not a checklist. It’s a way of perceiving.
